UKIP moot name change

! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

The UK Independence Party is considering changing its name to the Independence Party.

This can only be a good thing for UKIP – the UK is in its death throes with Scottish independence imminent and support for the union at an all time low and only going to get lower if we end up with a Prime Minister elected in Scotland.

A number of people have said to me that they would ditch their current party (mainly Tories) and and switch alleigence to UKIP if only they would change their name to the Independence Party.

The name change is being supported by Nigel Farage, the party leader and many high-ranking UKIPers.

Maybe however they should still stick to the Uk Independence name: whethe or notr Scotland votes Acottish Nationalist at the election. The SNP won’t win an overall majority anyway. Even if, in the futurem, the English, Scots and Welsh have totally independent status they will still need to collaborate togteher otherwise we will all be taken over completely by Europe. The UKIP might then have a role to play at European level; which is why they were formed in the first place.

Yes, I got that email too. I think it’s a good move, though I’m not sure if it’s a strong enough shift. Of course, it sounded (from the email) as though there would be uproar among the hardcore UKIPpers if the name changed too much. Don’t know what they’re worried about: at leas the policies aren’t being changed too much…
