New Toy

! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

Orange sent me one of these yesterday …

John Prescott. We’re having a power meeting over a pork pie and a can of Iron Bru.

Dunno, nicked the picture off another website. 🙂

Love it. I need to play a bit more before I can recommend it (or not) but the only gripes I’ve got so far are:

    – No easy way to disable GPRS
    – Moving data between the device and storage card is a bit sluggish
    – Media Player seems to be struggling with playing music off the storage card (probably because of above)
    – Not much memory free on the device

    The pro’s:

    – It looks nice
    – The interface is really easy to use
    – The camera is great for a 2mpx camera
    – The touchscreen is good enough for my chubby fingers to be able to press small things on screen
    – Big clock (small thing but nice touch)
    – You can put it in standby and it comes back on when you get a call
    – Wi-fi (good enough to pick up a wireless network while I was gunning it down a dual carriageway at 60mph this morning – no I didn’t try and use it on the go!)
    – Mobile Office
    – Loudspeaker is … loud
    – Outlook synchronisation
    – Big, bright screen

Sounds like a good set of features. Will have to see if I can get my grubby mits on one to test. Currently considering a Nokia N810, the as-yet-unreleased followup to the N800 Internet tablet. No phone capabilites (yet), but with the increasing amounts of free Wi-Fi (supposedly every McDonald’s in the country by Christmas, for one), I’m seriously interested.

I just got rid of an N70. I liked the N70 but the “N” Series Nokia’s are unreliable. Of course, the old “3” series was the last truly reliable range of phones Nokia ever produced but we’d still be using phones connected to batteries the size of house bricks if reliability was the only factor.

I still like this HTC Touch, none of the niggles with it are annoying me enough to want to throw it up the wall like with the N70 when it kept rebooting in the middle of calls.
