EU Constitution referendum legal bid fails

An attempt by a UKIP member to force a referendum on the EU Constitution has failed.

Stuart Bower argued that Article 3 of the Human Rights Act guarantees the right to free elections and that No Mandate Brown has broken a manifesto promise to give a referendum and is therefore guilty of breach of contract.

No Mandate Brown’s lawyer said “Manifesto pledges are not subject to legitimate expectation” which roughly translates as “The Prime Minister promised lots of things but actually has no intention of honouring his promises”.  If I was a Liebour voter I’d be pretty pissed off right now.  If I was a Liebour member I’d be thinking “Shit, Gordo just admitted he’s a liar – come the next election we’re fucked”.

Of course, Liebour were bordering on unelectable before the Goblin King admitted to being a lying shit but if I was a Liebour flunky I’d be more worried about the revolution than the election.

Jacqui Smith on Sharia Law

The Home Secretary was on the telly this morning telling everyone not to worry, we won’t be having Sharia law in Brrritain.  No, absolutely not.  Apart from the bit about having four wives.  Oh yeah, and the bits about Islamic banking and stuff.  But apart from that no, we won’t be having Sharia Law.

You see, there’s a basic basic principle in Brrrritain, Ms Smith explained.  Everyone in Brrrritain is subject to Brrrritish law and that there is one legal system in Brrritain – Brrrritish law.

How very reassuring.  She certainly knows her stuff does Jacqui Smith.  I mean, there’s no such thing as Brrrritish law and we’ve got 3 legal systems in Brrrritain – English, Scottish and Northern Irish – but that shouldn’t be taken as any indication that she’s a clueless fuckwit whose reassurances on Sharia Law aren’t worth the oxygen consumed in uttering them.  Absolutely not.

Well, that’s me convinced.

Resistance is futile, you WILL be federated

There is, I believe, a deliberate attempt to stifle all dissent and opposition throughout Federal Europe.

The “speaker” of the EU Parliament has been given the power to arbitarily decide who can and can’t speak in the EU Parliament after UKIP MEPs staged a legitimate protest against the EU Constitution.  This was done to protect freedom of speech, apparently.

Now Liebour MPs are kicking off because 4 of their MPs are supporting the  group.  The efforts of the Liebour Party to stop this deviation from policy are extreme – they actually threatened the 4 MPs involved with expulsion from the parliamentary party if they didn’t withdraw support.  Sadly, Frank field and Kate Hoey have withdrawn public support for  after Geoff Hoon threatened to kick them out of their party for wanting to honour their manifesto pledge.

Liebour has gone on the offensive making vague and apparently baseless suggestions that  is a bit of a shady organisation, offering no specific examples of wrongdoing and never actually coming out and accusing them of anything but sowing the seeds of doubt.

Liebour has become more and more authoritarian and this is a pattern repeated throughout Federal Europe.  Attempts to force democratic votes are suppressed and in Portugal, two thirds of the political parties there are being made illegal through a new law due to come into effect soon.

The question is, is this just Liebour being a bunch of facist control freaks because they like the idea of being jackbooted nazi’s or is it a co-ordinated effort throughout Federal Europe to supress freedom of speech, the right to protest and the democratic process?

Ah, that would explain a few things …

I’ve been trying to recover the login details for a blogger account all day and finally discovered the reason why I haven’t received the username/password reminder email.

One of my email addresses at english-parliament.co.uk normally forwards to my “normal” email address but, I have just discovered, the forward has stopped working.  Some time ago by the looks of it because I just added the email account to Outlook and it’s started downloading over 8,000 emails totalling almost 80mb!

It was one of those “that explains …” moments.

You must be joking … right?

I thought I’d mistakenly typed the wrong url in and got a spoof version of the BBC News website when I read this but no, it’s not a joke.

Dr Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, says that adopting Sharia Law in the UK is inevitible and we should just get on with it.  He says that nobody should be forced to choose between cultural loyalty and state loyalty.

Cultural loyalty, that’s hit the nail on the head.  Immigants moving to this country expect the state to bend over backwards to accommodate their alien culture and they’re not disappointed.  The only time they have a problem is when they expect us, the natives of this once green and pleasant land to change our way of life to accommodate them.  I wouldn’t move to Saudi Arabia and expect them to adopt English law so that I can sit in my front garden in Riyadh with a bottle of Stella in my hand and my wife sitting next to me in a bikini.  Their culture and law forbids it and as much as I may think their reasons for doing so are utter bollocks, it’s their country and they should have to change for me.  So why shuold we change for people moving into our country?

Forget about chopping off the hands of thieves, the public lashings and stoning of adulterers and concentrate on the “civil” aspects of Sharia Law – divorce, finances, etc. because they’re the ones that aren’t quite so morally reprehensible to the civillised world.  There is nothing wrong with taking out a bank account that doesn’t pay interest if that’s what you want – the banks would love us all to give them our money without them having to give anything back in return.  The right of a man to divorce a woman without her even knowing about it isn’t the way we do things and we don’t do bigamy but it’s not a major no-no like shagging your sister or mutilating women’s genitals.  But whether it’s morally acceptable or not doesn’t matter.  We have our own culture, our own customs, our own religion and our own way of life.  We might whinge about how shit things are from time to time (or most of the time in my case) but this is no reason to capitulate to the advancing Islamic caphilate and adopt a barbaric, mediævil theocratic legal system.

Dr Williams should remember that his duty is to this country, the Church of England and to the Christians living in this country.  I’m not a Christian but our society is based on Christian values and it should continue to be based on Christian values, not on the values of a religion that practices female genital mutilation and the murder of raped women, tells its followers to kill non-believers and has brought suicide bombers to the world.

Fuck Dr Rowan Atkinson, fuck multi-culturalism and fuck Sharia Law.  This is England and if you don’t like it then fuck off somewhere else.

There, I feel much better now.

Shropshire Star: Councillor defends his role in company

The following article is in tonight’s Shropshire Star …

The leader of Telford & Wrekin Council today defended himself against claims of hypocrisy for taking an unpaid job with a controversial limited company in the West Midlands.

Councillor Andrew Eade said although he had reservations, he felt that it was important for Telford to play a part in an organisation which could have a huge impact on the borough.

The formal decision to join up with the Birmingham, Coventry and Black Country City Region limited company is due to be made by Telford & Wrekin’s cabinet on Monday.

And the cabinet is recommended to appoint Councillor Eade as Telford’s representative and a director of the company.

He and his Conservative colleagues questioned the city region concept and suggested withdrawing from it during the run-up to the May elections when they seized power from Labour.

And although it is now official council policy to support the city region, they have since repeatedly expressed unease about the benefits and cost of joining up.

Boosting

Supporters say it will help Telford win millions of pounds of investment boosting the economy and creating jobs.

Critics say the city region is an unelected quango and a waste of tapayers’ money.

The claim the real cost to Telford is about £200,000 for the next financial year, not the £37,000 claimed by the council, and fear that joining a company limited by guarantee will have potentially huge cost implications for the council.

Stuart Parr, Telford-based founder of the West Midlands NO! campaign, accused Councillor Eade of being hypocritical and of sending out mixed messages over the city region.

He asked: “If the Conservatives do decide to stand by their election pledge and pull out, will they have to pay the city region off?

“They are gambling with taxpayers’ money without a mandate from the electorate.”

Councillor Eade said today: “Yes, I have always had reservations about the city region but it is important to ensure the borough is represented at the highest level where decisions are made that directly affect us.

“We have decided to assess the benefits of membership first and then make a decision about continued membership in the future.”

I would like to take this opportunity to just clarify a couple of points.

The £200,000 figure comes from Telford & Wrekin’s own budget proposals for 2008-09 in which they have allocated £100,000 to administration costs and £100,000 for wages.

The city region’s limited company will be limited by guarantee but who will be providing the guarantee?  Council Tax payers of course.  And who will be paying the pensions of the city region’s employees?  Will it be the local authorities who make up the city region or will it be the city region limited company itself?  Either way the pension fund will be made up of taxpayers money.

And if Telford & Wrekin decides to leave after a year when the city region produces no tangible benefits will they have to pay to leave?  Will they have to “buy” themselves out of the company?  Will the taxpayers money they will be putting into pension funds and guarantees be refunded?

This doesn’t just apply to Telford & Wrekin, it applies to every local authority that is taking part in the city region.    The further you get from Birmingham – Coventry, Telford, Wolverhampton for example – the less interest the city region will have in you.  The city region was conceived as “Greater Birmingham” and like all the other unelected regional quangos in the West Midlands, Birmingham will come first.

It will be interesting to see whether any of the councillor in line for directorships of the city region will declare a prejudicial interest.  The Standards Board for England, which has the job of making sure that councillors in England behave themselves, says that a prejudicial interest is not just about a councillor standing to gain financially from something they vote on but also to gain increased stature amongst their colleagues.  Increased stature such as a company directorship, for example.

Shropshire Star: MPs didn’t have long to prepare for EU vote

From last night’s Shropshire Star …

MPs didn’t have long to prepare for EU vote

MPs voted to give the EU not-a-constitution a second reading in a vote on Monday evening.  As sad as I may sound, I sat up and watched the debate and the vote on BBC Parliament.

MPs received the consolidated version of the bill they were voting on 4 hours before the debate started – not long enough to digest the hundreds of pages of text or understand the impact of what they were voting on.

However, rather than spend the next couple of hours in Parliament debating the bill with their colleagues, all but around 20 MPs decided they had something better to do with their time and the debating chamber was virtually empty.

Shortly before 10pm, MPs trickled in for the vote and in the end 586 MPs voted to give the EU not-a-constitution a second reading despite the fact that none of them had time to read what they were voting on and most of them didn’t bother to turn up to hear the arguments for or against.

The four Conservative MPs in Shropshire voted against the bill and David Wright, the only Labour MP left in the county, voted in favour of it.  Only Daniel Kawczynski bothered to turn up to the debate.

The EU not-a-constitution will be a disaster for England and as one MP commented, “this is the last treaty we will see before Parliament because this treaty is self-amending”.  The EU not-a-constitution represents a massive and irreversible transfer of sovereignty to Brussels and no MP with the interests of their country at heart would ever vote for such a thing.

Bargain

A passenger sevice between Ebbw Vale and Cardiff has been restored for the first time in 46 years.

The line has been used by freight trains but to make it suitable for passenger trains 18 miles of track had to be refitted at a cost of …

£35,000,000

Count the zeroes, that’s 35 million pounds for an 18 mile stretch of track.

British government approves bigomy

The British government has announced that bigamist muslims will be allowed to claim Income Support and Tax Credits for all their wives.

Bigamy is illegal here but muslims who marry abroad where it is legal to take up to 4 wives will be allowed to claim the extra benefits which could come to about £10k per year.

Not only does this make a mockery of the law but it also exposes Liebour’s promise to cut the social security bill as a sham.  The “muslim community” is getting more and more like a state within a state.  We have enough problems with European laws without recognising Sharia law as well.

Indoctrination of English children doomed to failure

David Blunkett has warned that there are not enough teachers to give Britishness lessons.

Citizenship lessons are mandatory in English schools only and last year, No Mandate Brown announced that he would force the indoctrination of English children with his “British” values.  He cannot, of course, insist on the indoctrination of children in his own constituency because education in Scotland is devolved.

I just sent this to the Department for Children, Schools and Families:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I see that David Blunkett has warned that there are not enough teachers trained to deliver Britishness lessons to English school children.

A lack of properly trained teachers for the subject combined with the fact that only English children will be receiving the lessons means that the project is doomed to failure.

This is the perfect opportunity, therefore, to scrap the plans to indoctrinate English children with so-called “British values” and allow them to be taught about English history, English values and English identity in the same way that Scottish and Welsh children are taught about their national history or identity.

English children are leaving school unable to read and write to a sufficient standard.  Rather than wasting time, effort and money on trying to create your Prime Minister’s artificial British identity, can I suggest that resources are instead directed at ensuring our children leave school with at least the basic skills required to get them a job?

Six Nations: Scotland -v- France

Saturday’s defeat at the hands of the mutton munchers was made slightly more palatable by yesterday’s demolition of the sweaty socks by the cheese eating surrender monkey’s.

Our friends north of the border lost by 21 points putting them firmly at the bottom of the table on points difference after the opening fixtures.  Hopefully they’ll stay there for the rest of the tournament.

2008 Six Nations: England -v- Wales

It’s only 5 minutes until England’s opening Six Nations match against Wales.

Not so long ago I’d have been looking forward to this game to see how much of a pasting we give the mutton munchers but just lately Wales have become a force to contend with and it’ll be a challenging game.

Jonny Wilkinson is playing but Lawrence Dallaglio is out of the squad.

Jerusalem has been played, it’s cold, it’s damp and it’s muddy.  What more could you ask for?  Apart from God Save the Queen not to be played as our national anthem again that is.

Bring it on boyo’s!

Edit:
England are leading 16-6 at half time.  The crafty celts have played a decent first half but England have out-classed them.  The huge New Zealander that’s now playing for us is very good – a beast of a man but fast.

Edit 2:
England’s game has collapsed and the taffy’s have taken the lead.  England are playing embarrasingly badly – bring back Dallaglio!

Edit 3:
Holy shit!  Wales haven’t won at Twickenham for 20 years and England have thrown away a brilliant first half and comfortable lead.
