The generals were wiser on wars in africa than wars in the middle east – they told the blair government that intervention would result in something resembling Somalia. As Axel rightly points out, military might is no good in an insurgency.

Our super powerful military is only any good against another powerful military, it aint much cop against guerillas/insurgents

Some backwater banana state like Zimbabwe is hardly going to have any military to threaten the technology the forces of the Western world have.

Its just a shame that the average Zimbabwean is the wrong shade of brown, and they don’t have any oil. Otherwise Mugabe would have been worm-food a long time ago.

Word on Sky this morning is that the generals are actually pulling the strings in Zimbabwe. Which could mean any further “intervention” will be met militarily and that post-election (if it even takes place) we’re looking at another Burma – military government.
