Israel self-defences UN headquarters in Gaza

! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

Israel took a break from blowing up schools today and decided to bomb the UN’s headquarters in Gaza instead, destroying supplies stored in the compound.

The reason?  Israel claims its terrorists came under fire from inside the compound.  That’s right, Israel is now accusing the UN of harbouring militants and facilitating terrorism.  They really have got to get a grip on reality and realise they can’t just blow the shit out of anything they feel like.

I don’t believe there is any doubt that the UN aid and abet Hamas. It has been shown that Hamas members work for the UN, and that UN vehicles regularly move Hamas arms and weapons around. So no real surprises here. This has been known for a long time.

I think you are missing a huge point here.

Under the rules of war you are always allowed to return fire.

If, like Hamas, you use school, hospitals and UN building as military posts then it is the responsibility of the people using these places (i.e. Hamas in this case) to ensure the safety of the civilians using those buildings. Usually this is done by getting them out of them.

Hamas has been firing rockets and mortars into Israel for three years while the corrupt and morally bankrupt UN and EU have done nothing.

This can only permanently end when either Hamas is destroyed, or Hamas realizes that it must stop firing rockets and mortars into Israel. This will mean a real change to the Hamas charter, recognizing the right to exist of Israel, so unlikely.

If you really cared for the people of Gaza you would wish for the swift and total destruction of Hamas. When Gaza became Jew free, something I would guess you applauded, they had every chance to build a civilized society, they chose not to. At some stage they have to start building their own future, rather than just trying destroy other peoples.

Israel lived up to its side, Gaza did not. Israel give up land, Gaza is Jew free, but that didn’t give Israel peace. I would suggest that Israel with draw for no further settlements until the situation in Gaza shows that the Arabs have some intention of joining civilized society.

I agree with every word that Steve T says. I would go even further: the condemnation of Israel from many quarters, including that of the UN, is actually a tacit endorsement of terrorism. That endorsement threatens, not only Israel, but also the rest of the civilised world.

Hamas uses humans shields, they even admit this in their youtube publicity, the un an organisation that allows syria to sit on the security council knows Hamas uses its facilities but it fears radical islam so it generally tirns a blind eye to it in some cases even supporting it as it has operatives working amongst them. Israel demonstrated that Hamas was firing from the un school with video footage from its air command yet the media chose to ignore this, they are fighting the same enemy we are fighting in iraq and afghanistan, this country can not criticise israel on any subject.

What, people who don’t want to be occupied by foreign powers? Yeah, that’d be right. Now Brown is offering naval defence to Israel!
