The Birmingham Mail have reported on the protest and said the two sides kept away from each other and that there were a few “flashpoints” but failed to mention that the EDL protesters were corralled into what was effectively a large cage whilst the police allowed nutters to come and throw stuff at them. Takes the piss.

I suspect we’re of a similar view – I don’t like their race politics but I am offended by the way they are treated and portrayed as troublemakers when it’s the UAF and muslims (but mainly the UAF) that cause mayhem. There were 3 arrests from 4,000 EDL protesters and 6 arrests from 1,500 UAF/muslim protesters.

I’m sympathising more and more with the EDL myself, every demo so far it’s been the UAF and other extremists causing trouble and the EDL and associated others corralled, arrested, prevented from free assembly as well as vilified in the press. If you’d looked up the initial reports you’d have thought it was the EDL who’d rioted, not been provoked.
