Now I can guess what the excuse will be – St George’s Day has been postponed until the 2nd of May by the church because it clashes with Easter and Easter is more important in the religious calendar than a saint’s day – but it’s not good enough.
It doesn’t matter whether there is congestion in the church’s calendar, St George’s Day left its religious roots behind a long time ago and is a national day for our country. I don’t care what the Pope or the Archbishop of Canterbury says, England’s St George’s Day is on the 23rd of April every year.
So, to Google and Asda (who have decked out their Telford stores in British flags) and all the other shops around England that have ignored St George and stocked up on the butcher’s apron, I have only one thing to say: how dare you insult my country, fuck you.

When I check at around 1AM on St. George’s Day they had a St. George logo
Maybe Google are more scared of the pope than they are of England & russia?

Yesterday, the 23rd, was St georges day but it is a non day when nothing happened in religion, he was in the cave\coffin\council recycling receptacle being dead?

Google did have a St George logo, a cartoon with a big dragon tail and St George riding up to attack, but it was removed quite quickly. I don’t know why

Hi Axel, I think you’ll find that St George slew Maggie…… Or was that some other evil dragon?
I wonder why the Church doesn’t shift St Stephen’s Day so it won’t clash with another rather important Christian festival?…… And the date of St Stephen’s Day? – 26th December. Amazingly, somehow, we have managed to work around it every year, who’d have thought it..
Take heart! The Royal Regiment of Fusileers hold the day almost sacred. For them it is Huge It is celbated with gusto!
As an aside, I have even co hosted a couple of “Kipling” nights in celebration of that insightful and revered poet. With a little inventiveness a very enertaining night can be had. With his birthdate of 30th December, little problem with an appropriate time to party!
