English Democrats embracing militancy

! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

English Democrats - Bringing English nationalism into disreputeThe English Democrats lost their “celebrity” elected mayor of Doncaster this week when he resigned from the party over the takeover of the party by BNP defectors.

Chairman of the English Democrats, Robin Tilbrook, took the news badly and smeared Mayor Peter Davies accusing him of being a gambling addict and heavily criticising him.  The day before, he was praising him and holding up as a shining example of the English Democrats’ “success” in an article which has since been deleted.

One of their 6 (yes, six) councillors, Mick Glynn, has resigned in disgust at Tilbrook’s outburst leaving them with just 2 parish councillors, 2 district councillors and a county councillor.

The takeover of the party by the BNP is one of the least worrying aspects of the English Democrats’ recent lurch to the far right.  More worrying is the forming of an alliance with anti-Muslim, white supremacist and British nationalist groups and the abandonment of the democratic process:

The political / elections route has always been the main focus for patriotic politics, but in recent years the emphasis has shifted away from elections towards militancy, campaigning and direct action

Thank god the English Democrats are in terminal decline, the thought of this bunch of racists, extremists and white supremacist militants in a position of power doesn’t bear thinking about.

The irony is English people want and need a party that stands up for them, is Eurosceptic, wants to reduce immigration and is patriotic but not racist. The EDP as originally set up would pretty much be in just the place they want (whether it could take advantage of that would have been another question). It’s leadership (Tilbrooke and Uncles) however seem to have an obsession with forming alliances and recruiting members of ‘nationalist’ parties no matter what the opinions and attitudes of those parties or people and are quite willing to throw away existing, dedicated members or councillors and kill any chance of getting people to vote for them doing so. Their policy has been seen to be damaging time and time again but they obsessively plough on with it for God knows what reason.

I can’t help thinking that the EDP was intended from the very start to fail, and deal English nationalist politics, and Englishness itself, a hefty blow. Are Tilbrook and Uncles Brit plants? I don’t know, so I can’t make an accusation, but I have a strong suspicion that they are. At the very best, they are very naive to allow former BNP members anywhere near them. As he’s a solicitor, you’d think Tilbrook would be savvy enough to know how the ruling classes will crucify any English nationalist organisation with even the most tenuous lnks to the BNP.

BY the way, I’m sure the BNP has a programme of state ownership/control of the infrastructure that Labour supporters from the 1970s would recognise. That makes them socialists or statists, just like Hitler or Stalin. In other words, they’re left wing, not right wing.
