Petition: Hold a general election in 2007

! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

A 10 Downing Street petition needs your signature – Hold a general election in 2007.

In order to effectively run the country a prime minister needs the approval that comes with an election. The current prime minister has not been tested by an election. This comprimises his ability to govern effectively as he has no mandate for change. Hold a general election in 2007 to allow England its right to a democratically elected leader.

Go on, sign it, you know you want to!  You might want to add “(English Parliament!)” after your name as well – the media are keeping close tabs on this one and it calls for England to have the right to a democratically elected leader.

GB referred to this petition in a response to DC at PMQs yesterday and laughed it off as it only had 26 signatories.

He may well have shot himself in the foot as it made me want to head over there and sign, along, it seems with 3,500 people over the past 24 hours!

Please join in, sign the petition and teach GB to keep his big mouth shut!

    And me! Now over 4,400

Not that he’ll take any notice of it of course, like he’s ignoring the referendum for the EU constitution campaign. Democracy in action!

This is different – a subject that should get millions of signatures – it can’t be ignored.

If this makes an impression, then the british people can establish a permanent right for direct consultation.

Sign, and tell everyone you know to do so.

How can Gordon Brown continue to be PM for two years without being elected first. Surely a election timetable of within a year should be set for PM’s who came into their position without first being elected.
