What’s going on in Kosovo?

! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

Kosovo has hardly been mentioned since it’s declaration of independence but what’s actually going on there?

The BBC says that Russia is sending medical and food aid to Kosovan Serbs at the request of the Serbian government. Are Kosovan Serbs are in need of aid or are the Russians and Serbs playing a game, trying to make people think that the dastardly Kosovans are abusing the Serbian population?

It was reported that the riots in ethnic Serb majority areas of Kosovo were orchestrated – have they caused so much damage and disruption that they’re running out of food and supplies? Or are the ethnic Albanian Kosovan majority oppressing the ethnic Serbs?

It’s all very strange – I can’t find anything on the news websites to indicate there’s a problem there. I suspect a propaganda machine is winding up over Kosovo.

Or maybe there’s not as much of a problem as you hoped there would be?

I’m happy there aren’t any problems, I supported Kosovo’s independence.

Kosovo Serb enclaves have been subject to a blockade of medical supplies from the Serbian government since the declaration of independence. Moreover, the Serb enclaves since 1999 have been squeezed periodically in a bid to force people to leave. The enclave in Orahovac in particular has been subjected to blockades and harassment assisted by Dutch troops.

This is not unlike what happened during the 1991-95 wars when the Security Council declared that the Serbs’ enemies (government of Croatia and BiH) had veto rights over humanitarian aid for civilians in Serb-controlled areas. This caused many to die needlessly as they were subject to blockade. As far as attacking Serbs is concerned, food and medical supplies are a legitimate weapon of war, just as they were deemed as legitimate weapons against Iraq.

There ARE problems, altough they are not so obvious to an average “democracy, liberalism, peace and human rigths at all costs” armchair pundit. The Kosovo hasn’t got a proper economy, they live off crime. They will repay kind Europeans who supported their independence with drugs, slavery, organs trade, abductionns, and so on without end. Congratulations on creation of Islamist rouge state in Europe!

The only reason you, Stuart, has supported Kosovo independence is the parallel you have drawn between their and English independence. But you have bever been so wrong. Serbia and UK cases are completely different. Serbia is (was?) an unitary state, with Kosovo being their integral part for centuries and from the very beginning. There’s none so blind… you know.

So the Russian-backed Serbian government is blockading ethnic-Serb areas of Kosovo and then asking the Russian government to send in food and medical aid? No doubt the Serbs and Russians are being told that Kosovo is mis-treating the Serbs and preventing aid from getting to Serb areas. Is that what you’re being told in Russia, Max?

I never heard anything being told about blockading aid(well, possibly missed) but yeah, Kosovo is REALLY mistreating the Serbs. I hope you are not assuming that everything we are being told in Russia is automatically wrong?

Nothing is happening in Kosovo, since independence, life is going on as usually. The only region the things are a little bit unstable is North of Kosovo, where orchestrated protests, contrabanding of medical supplies and other goods by criminals on Kosovo side of border and Serbian one too, profit from quazi patriotism in the name of Serbia.
While it is true that Kosovo has a weak economy, it has become lame and cliche to call the country exporter of drugs and prostitution. Economy will gradually change, this is alrady happening with the donor conference, and things will gradually quie down. Our future is in Europe, together witrh Serbia as countries.
As for religion, whomever comes here, will see that we are the “lightest” Muslims on earth. People hardly go to Mosques. The joke around here is were are Muslim “lights” Serioously, people don’t care much about religion. There is also a sizeable proportion of Albanian population that is catholic, and together with orthodox Serbs we make a quite diverese country religiosly. We are building a Catholic cathedral right at the centre.

  8. Carla Del Ponte - Dr. Mengele (1 comments) says:

“Iron Carl” explained how cut Serbs.

Excerpts from the book of ex-Hague Tribunal Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte, whose withdrawal should take place only a third of April, has already been the cause of the scandal.

Former prosecutor Hague Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Carla Del Ponte, whose hostile attitude towards the Serbs for many years formed the West’s negative perception about them, suddenly razotkrovennichalas. The book “Hunting: I and war criminals” in paints narrates how facing now in power independent Kosovo people earning huge money, selling internal organs recovered stolen from the Serbs.

According to the newspaper “Izvestia”, in relation to the facts mentioned in the book in Serbia initiated criminal proceedings on the abduction of the summer of 1999, some 300 Kosovo Serbs and transporting them to Albania for the clandestine trade in human organs. If the data are confirmed in it, breaks out loud international scandal.

The direct control over these crimes, in the spirit of the Third Reich, coordinating the actions of a network of concentration camps and clandestine laboratories, in which people died in terrible pain, were leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army. One of its leaders, Hashim Thaci, called Snake, now holds the post of Prime Minister of an independent Kosovo.

This man has always been considered a war criminal in Serbia. In his account dozens of atrocities, which are courageous fighter for the independence of harassment over the Serbs in Kosovo. However, because of the strange circumstances of the Hague Tribunal is always more interested in Belgrade’s “crimes”.

Former District Court Judge in Pristina, Danica Marinkovic in the process against Slobodan Milosevic in The Hague has repeatedly tried to give evidence that the Kosovars involved in the trafficking of organs from living persons forfeited. She said that the UN mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), which then headed by the current Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Bernard Kouchner, prevented the investigation of the disappearance and abduction of people in the province.

The UN Mission in Kosovo totally rejects these accusations, “Kommersant reported.” UNMIK representative Alexander Ivanko categorically stated: “I deny it, because we have always cooperated with the Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia”. However, if the Serbian investigators will be able to find confirmation listed in the book, Carla Del Ponte reported breaks international scandal.

Same Del Ponte and Florence Artman, helping her in the years suggests that the UN administration, under whose jurisdiction in the province for many years continued to destroy Serb Orthodox churches destroyed and prevented attempts to appeal to the Albanians to justice. In an interview Artman said that it is the UNMIK officials have not provided “iron” Carle sue Albanians in connection with the disappearance of people and trade in donor organs.

As Del Ponte, already in 1999, it has sufficient information on the killings of Serbs and the sale of their organs. Chairman of the Union of families missing Kosovo Serbs Simo Spasicha said that he himself met several times with Carla Del Ponte and sent her abduction and destruction of evidence of Kosovo Serbs in concentration camps. But even after, in 2003, the prosecutor personally visited the crime scene in the town Burel in the north of Albania, in the house where the removal of organs, she did not give the cause of the course – although, by her own admission, there were traces of blood and medical equipment.

Former Justice Minister Vladan Batic said that if Mrs Del Ponte described in her book – though it is “the most atrocious crime since the time of Dr. Mengele”, and it should not be for the Serbian and the Hague for justice. And Del Ponte also must be held accountable for what hidden from justice egregious facts heinous crimes, thus becoming, complicit.

I was afraid that someone would misunderstand what I said earlier. I said that shipments of medical supplies from the Serbian government have been blockaded by Nato and by the so-called Kosovo government. The Serbian government is not blockading anyone over there and has not the power to do so. They I suppose could cut off the power but they haven’t the guts to do that.

I also mentioned that these blockades of vital supplies are an old story as this was used against Serbs west of the Drina during the 1991-95 Yugoslavian civil war.

I see that confessed war criminal Ramush Haradinaj has been acquitted by the Hague Tribunal despite his confessions to being responsible for a KLA division that produced such things as the mass grave at Donji Ratis and other atrocities. As usual, the lower-level official was convicted of some crimes while he was let off just as happened in the Delalic case; it’s the template for any trial of those who attack Serbs. The principle of command responsibility somehow does not apply when Serbs are attacked, and certainly the novelty called “Joint Criminal Enterprise” isn’t even considered.

I want the leaders of Serbia to announce that never, ever, ever will they cooperate with the ICTY after this and that they will do all in their power to keep Karadzic and Mladic away from its dirty hands.
