British government want to censor the internet

! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

DK talks about the latest murmurings about regulating the content of websites and blogs and suggests several, quite obscene and medical things, that the British government can do with their idea of curtailing freedom of speech.

If the British government intends to censor the internet with draconian, illiberal legislation then I’ll just do what Guido and others do and host and publish my blog overseas.

Of course the brain dead dicators of this rotten government have failed to think of is the lose of revenue for British web host firms as people move their sites overseas.

Also a lose of tax revenue as well.

Technology moves on, if this goes through the will find a way to silence us all…

Yes technology moves on, but always the public sector is at least one step behind. There are always people out there with the skills, resources and know-how to take something like this and fart it back in the government’s face.

The so-called government are so, so weak. I almost feel sorry for them. To be that weak is ridiculous. I suppose they just can’t take criticism the poor things. It’s sad that the pathetic shites actually think they have the power; they do not have the power. We have the power! Which is why they have to try to keep us down. The little children are fukin’ shit scared of us! What else is new? This has happened throughout history.

What are they getting wound up about? Exisiting laws covering obscene (criminal law) stuff and libel(civil law) still apply to the internet. If an ISP/webmaster is notified of a problem and they don’t correct it then enforce the exisiting laws.

Exactly Andy, but they can’t resist the urge to create yet more laws for things that are already illegal. It’s already illegal to libel somebody so why do we need another law making a specific crime of libeling somebody on the internet? It’s just nonsense and brings absolutely nothing of any value to society … unless you’re a lawyer.
