TUC votes to boycott Israel

! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

A number of unions, including the Fire Brigade Union (FBU), Unite and UNISON, voted yesterday to boycott Israel and disinvest from companies that profit from the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

The unions that supported the motion at the TUC conference represent 6.5m people in the UK.

The motion also condemns the Israeli trade union, Histadrut and calls for a review of the TUC’s relationship with it after it issued a statement supporting Israel’s illegal military incursion into Gaza earlier this year which resulted in many war crimes being committed, including the Israeli’s military’s illegal use of white phosphorus.

The UK’s trades union movement follows those of Ireland and South Africa which have also voted to boycott Israel until it ends its illegal occupation of Palestine.

I generally don’t have much time for the unions, not least because they keep the Liebour Party from bankruptcy, but they have served a useful purpose in his case.

Silly response, I fail to see what boycotting Israel will do to improve the lives of firemen. Much better boycotting Hamas and the Palestinians until they come to their senses and stop lobbing unguided rockets over the frontier. But that would go against their cosy leftie ethos that Israel is the cause of every problem in the world (after the USA)

Quite Right QM. Mind you, I am inclined to BUY Israeli goods wherever I see them and support a brave country in their fight against terrorism.

QM: Hamas a re a ‘terrorist’ organisation and as a result have nothing to boycott(it is all barred). I still maintain, that both sides need their arses kicked with big shiny non halil\kosher boots, to get them to act like adults

I’d much rather have Israel as my neighbour than Gaza or the west bank correctly named Judea and Samaria, which incidently Isral captured from Jordan whom themselves had originally illegally annexed it, not mentioned in rewritten history tho.
I thanked the boycott Israel website for pointing out which goods are made in israel so I can make an effort to purchase them along with my English made stuff in the supermarket.

So that they could drive us all into Wales and then build a wall to keep us in?
