Pirates Hijack Military Cargo Ship

! This post hasn't been updated in over a year. A lot can change in a year including my opinion and the amount of naughty words I use. There's a good chance that there's something in what's written below that someone will find objectionable. That's fine, if I tried to please everybody all of the time then I'd be a Lib Dem (remember them?) and I'm certainly not one of those. The point is, I'm not the kind of person to try and alter history in case I said something in the past that someone can use against me in the future but just remember that the person I was then isn't the person I am now nor the person I'll be in a year's time.

Pirates have hijacked a boat 200 miles off the coast of Somalia.

This is nothing new, of course, 2008 has been a bumper year for piracy. In fact, I blogged about Somali pirates back in April when some muppet thought it would be a good idea to take their million pound yacht to the piracy capital of the world.

This time it’s a bit different, though – it’s not a bored old man and his bit on the side on a million pound yacht, it’s a cargo ship loaded with ammunition, weapons and 32 Ukrainian T-72 tanks headed for Kenya. The pirates are currently en-route to Xarardheere, a fishing village in Somalia that’s used as a base by pirates. They say they want a $35m ransom before they’ll give the ship back.

Just as the Royal Navy cleaned up the Indian Ocean in the 19th century and ended the slave trade there maybe this is the start of a russian resurgence and a muscovite re-invigoration!

Maybe this is what will make the EU collapse under its own foetid weight, a power group that is only interested in its own self interest not those interests of child molesting greek olive farmers or goat knobbing belgian cheese makers?
